DOST Helps Filipino Entrepreneurs with a Technology Database

The One-Stop-Information of Technologies in the Philippines was activated last week by the Department of Science and Technology, it is an online database of over 280 technologies, inventions, and process improvements that is useful to the small-medium enterprises, manufacturing operators and other industries. It promotes viable technologies from Filipino scientists and inventors. OSIST was funded by the e-Government and it costs Php20 million. The said project was currently operated by the Philippine Council for Industry and Energy Research and Development or PCIERD.
Albert Mariano, head of the PCIERD said that “OSIST hopes to bring entrepreneurs to develop certain inventions and technologies to improve their own business, as well as generate business for the technology developers and inventors.â€
He added, “ We are also planning to transfer the portal to the DOST’s Technology Application and Promotion Institute to encourage the use of the OSIST and also to inform technology developers to use the site to disseminate their own technology.â€
One-Stop-Information of Technologies allow businessmen and potential development partners to talk directly to the developers. It is also categorized according to industry such as food, energy, textile, information technology, health transportation and process.
