Posted on October 27th, 2008
The 34th Philippine Business Conference (PBC) was held last October 21, 208 at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel, City of Manila. This event, which was attended by over 1,000 local and foreign businessmen and government officials, is regarded as the country’s largest and most important business gathering.
One of the highlights of this gathering is the awarding of the Most Outstanding Chamber in 2008 for the different regions, with no less than Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo herself handing the awards to the winners.
The list of the regional winners for this year are, Paranaque Chamber of Commerce and Industry for National Capital Region, Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the Northern Luzon region, Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Southern Luzon, Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Visayas region and Surigao Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the Mindanao region. Metro Naga CCI won this year’s national award, after winning the most outstanding chamber in Southern Luzon last 2006.
The PBC awards are viewed to be as the highest recognition of achievement granted by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry to both business chambers and their corresponding local government units. This important achievement is sure to attract more investors in their area.
A panel of judges from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, academe and national agencies deliberated before coming out with the list of winners after a thorough judging last October 11, 2008 at Dusit Hotel, Makati City.
Awards like these are very important as it encourages entrepreneurs in every area to work hand in hand. This create an environment of businessmen supporting each other, instead of them treating each other as mere competition.
And aside from the entrepreneurs, the local government stand to benefit too, as the local chambers initiate projects that can definitely help the government. This make a network of government and entrepreneurs working hand in hand to achieve a common goal.
