The retention of employee is significant. It is critical to the long-term health and success of the business. Here are the top 10 tips to retain a great employee.

1. Recognize and reward you employee is necessary. Recognition and rewards can help retain a great employee and make them motivated from their work. You will assure their loyalty and good performance if you do these little things on them.

2 . An employee who is satisfied knows clearly what is expected from him every day at work. Changing expectations create unhealthy stress. They make the employee feel unsuccessful. The need for a specific framework within which people clearly knows what is expected from them is better than changing their jobs.

3. Quality of the supervision is critical to employee retention.The supervisor has a critical role to play; anything that a supervisor does will greatly affect the work performance of an employee.

4. Employees’ ability to speak freely what is on his/her mind is a key factor. If employees offer their ideas, feel free to criticize so that there are rooms for improvements. In that way employee feel significant to the company and so a way not to leave the company.

5. The use of employees’ talent and skill is another environmental factor. Know you employees’ skills and talents and utilize them to achieve their best performance. Employees who are motivated want to contribute to their respective work areas outside of his/her job description.



6. Perception of fairness and equal treatment is important in employee retention. There should be an equal treatment to your entire employee. Normally, the root of the issues begins with their salary, study and find out if one employee deserves the right salary increase because you never know someone is jealous and becomes unsatisfied with his job and leads to finding a better opportunity– means leaving your company.

7. Tools, time and training -- the easiest to solve but the most affecting in terms of employee retention. Tools, time and proper training is necessary for the employee to do their job well – or else they’ll find an employer who will provide them all their needs.

8. Frequent opportunities for them to learn and grow in their careers, knowledge and skill. Provide your employees the opportunity to grow and learn different things. They can be great asset to your company.

9. Employee must feel senior managers knew he existed. Senior managers -- president of a small company or a department/division head in a larger company must take time to meet with new employees- and also to old employees- to learn about their talents, abilities and skills. It helps employees feel welcomed, acknowledged and loyal.

10. Do not ever threaten an employee’s job or income. Always think before you say anything that makes them feel they need to search for another job because it makes them nervous and completely fruitless.
