Google Will build 183 Acres (75 Heactares) Server Farm in Austria

The internet giant Google is set to build a server farm in Austria. Google has already brought 75 hectares (185 acre) property in Kronstorf, northern part of Austria.
Kay Oberbeck, Google spokeswoman said that they have looked at a dozen sites in European countries before finally making their decision. Kronstorf, with a population of 3,000, was chosen because of its ideal and favorable location: near several hydropower plants that ensures power supply, and the proximity of the river Enns, for ample water supply. A constant supply of water is necessary to keep the computers cool.
The place is also ideal because of its accessibility to nearby qualified manpower. Although still in the design stage, Google will be employing 50 to 100 people in its initial stage. We can expect that number to grow once the server farm is completely running.
This server farm which will contain a number of powerful computers is said to cost Google tens of millions of Euros in investment. It is estimated to be complete and fully functional after two years of construction.
A server farm is a collection of computer servers maintained by enterprise to accomplish server needs far beyond the capability of one machine. Google’s server farms are used to handle requests for data from internet users. And knowing how far is the reach of the internet, we can only imagine how many of those data requests are coming in at the same time.
The Google headquarters called the Googleplex is located in Mountain View, California. Larry Page and Sergey Brin were just students at Stanford University when they co-founded Google in 1998. As of September 30, 2008, the company already has 20,123 full time employees.
And if you look in your dictionaries, google is also defined as a verb which means “to search for information about specific information, specifically using the Google search engine.”
