Local fastfood giant Jollibee has dominated the local market in its 30 years of business, having done that, there is really no other option for them but to set their sight on global expansion. “Succeeding in the Philippines can only mean one thing, that we are faced with a new challenge of conquering other markets and exceeding international standards. We are confident that we can make this happen,” said Jollibee president Ernesto Tanmantiong.

Jollibee began to compete internationally in 1986 by opening its first branch outside of the country – in Taiwan. After two years, it opened in Daly City, California, establishing its presence in the USA.

Strengthening its presence in the American soil, Jollibee has opened three more stores successively this year in Los Angeles, California. First was the store in Puente Hills Mall at the City of Industry last August. In September, it opened another one in Southbay Pavilion in Carson City, and finally one more in Chino town Spectrum in Chino City this October.

The outlets in Southbay Pavilion and Chino Town Spectrum are also offering Red Ribbon products, while the Puente Hill Mall outlet has a Red Ribbon and Chowking in the same location. Now, there are already 20 Jollibee stores in the United States which caters mostly to Filipino communities there.

“Our groundwork for conquering the US market begins in California,” “The huge Filipino and Filipino-American communities here are thriving and their support will be the backbone of our strategy. It is also our goal to serve our kababayans that langhap-sarap taste of home, first and foremost. They are the reason why we continue to bring Jollibee offshore.” Tanmantiong added.

Filipino families who have settled in California are very much delighted of this and welcomed the popular fastfood brand. Jollibee has brought them home by taking the same langhap sarap taste from the best sellers that they been accustomed to here in the Philippines. They can now have their favorite ChickenJoy, Jolly Spaghetti and Yumburger once again.

Aside from California, Jollibee also has a branch in Las Vegas, Nevada which just opened last year. One more store is upcoming in Queens, New York. The Jollibee brand has also set foot in Brunei, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Saipan.

What was once just a small ice cream parlor is now becoming a global brand. A proof that Filipino entrepreneurs can compete on the global business arena. Jollibee is truly one name that we Filipinos can be proud of.
