Google Now Translates WebPages into Filipino Language
Posted on November 28th, 2008
This is good news to all our nationalistic countrymen out there. The popular search engine Google now can translate an entire webpage to and from the Filipino language.
The internet giant Google has just launched its translation tools that allows translation of 34 languages to the Filipino language. Calling it Google Translate™ it is the first free translation service of Google which includes Southeast Asia’s native languages, and of course, our Filipino language is included.
This service is so versatile that it allows all Filipino-speaking net surfers all-over the world to find text phrases or a whole webpage, view them in foreign languages and translate it to Filipino. They can also use Filipino words in their search and it will crawl all the webpages published in 34 languages, the results that will be given are already translated back into the Filipino language.
And if you have a website that is published in Filipino language, Google is making available a translation website gadget to make it appear in the other 34 languages. That is an exciting news for Filipino bloggers who only blogs in the Filipino language, because now, other nationalities can read their blogs too.
“Today’s launch of Google Translate in Filipino language makes it easier for millions of Filipino-speaking Internet users all over the world to search and access much more web content in their own local language,” said Derek Callow, Marketing Manager, Google Southeast Asia.
Most likely to benefit from this are students who are searching for their assignment on the internet, especially those who are having a hard time trying to cope with the English language. Now, they can translate their researches in a language that they understand better.
Filipino overseas workers who struggling with languages in their host countries, and entrepreneurs who want to understand their foreign business partners better, are also to gain from this translation tool.
The full suite of the translation tools are available at http://translate.google.com.ph.

I welcome this new development. Every Filipino is surely happy on this.
