Since the advent of Online Community Websites, people around the world are unstoppable in registering and communicating through this websites. The good thing about these websites is that it provides easy access to communication, pictures, music, recordings, meeting new friends and even videos from any part of the world. People became very into it to the extent of having a feeling of the need to check their accounts almost everyday. But most of the time problems also occurred in these websites that made the users not so happy about it. One example is the recent problem that encountered by the well-known community website, Friendster.

Earlier this month, subscribers of Friendster complained about the unknown and deleted friend’s in their list. Though maintenance of the website is done regularly, this occurrence is new to the subscribers.

The root cause of the problem is the power outage that Friendster incurred from their outsourced data center in Santa Clara, California. This downtime is experienced not only by Friendster but also those other online companies. This were explained in the recent blog entry of Friendster.

The company said that Friendster is now back online and they are now working hard and quickly to bring back everything to normal. Jeff Roberto, Public Relations director of Friendster reported that, “We’re working through the friends list update for every user’s account now, all 85 million of them.”

Friends team also explains that the problems with the number of Friend’s list concerning its inconsistencies will later be remedied as well. The original number of friends are still saved so there’s no need to worry about.

That statement will surely a good new to growing number of Filipino people in friendster. The Filipinos are considered to be the 3rd country that brings traffic in the said website, even bigger than the users in United States where Friendster started.

It is said that in March 2008, 13.2 million Filipino users visited Friendster out of 39 million visitors for the said.

The way I see it, Friendster has become an essential part of internet users in the Philippines. When downtime was experienced, it seems Friendster users has become more concerned of missing friends on Friends List than the political and economic turbulence in the country.

    Isn’t it amazing?

It is quite an issue for people who are still loyal to the service — take what’s important in the service away and it falls to nothing.
