The Successful Trism Game
Posted on December 1st, 2008
Steve Demeter was a software designer in a large bank, in between shifts he is tweaking with codes and designing electronic games. Eventually, this passion of Demeter has earned fruits for him when the game he develops became a hit.
Demeter is the creator and developer of the famous iPhone puzzle game called “Trismâ€, a sliding-block, color-matching puzzle game.
After pitching it to Apple last spring, the company has made it available for download last July with the launch of its App Store, the online provider of applications for its iPods and iPhones, according to CNN reports.
The game was sold at $4.99 at the Apple’s App store, and in a month’s time, it has already earned Demeter a whooping $250,000. Because of this, Demeter has already said goodbye to the bank he is working with and started his own company.
His new company is called Demiforce, and he is planning to develop more electronic games. Now he already has a staff, and already, five games are in development, two of which will be coming out by Christmas, including his spin-off to “Trism†called “Trismology.â€
Although during the development of his “Trism†game, Demeter was nothing but a one-man team. From the concept to the actual development, he did it all by himself. But the name “Trism†came from his friend who suggested it to him. Demeter acknowledges his friend’s contribution and paid him a few grand.
Apple has indeed opened the door for every aspiring software developer with talent and a clever idea. Demeter actually took his shot after attending an iPhone seminar in the summer of 2007. After which, he already went to work, brainstorming with himself to create an original game for the iPhone.
“Apple has made it so easy to put game publishing in the palms of developers,” he said. “You just make it and then you submit it to Apple. If you have a relevant, fun game or application, I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t be approved.”
