At present, Skype seems to be the most popular choice in making PC-to-PC phone calls and cheap PC-to-landline calls. Although one setback with this is that it requires downloading the program and installing it in your PC – that could mean precious hard disk space and memories being tied up.

What if you can have an option wherein you won’t need to download any software and install any program in your PC? What if you can call directly from your browser? Wouldn’t such an option appeal to you?

I give you GizmoCall, it features Skype-like calling capabilities without the need to download any software, but instead do the call right inside your browser, any type of web browser.

Of course you need the basic communication peripherals for your computer which is the microphone or a headset. You also need to have a Flash version 9 or higher for optimum performance. You can call any GizmoCall users, as well as Gizmo5, 800 numbers or SIP address without a charge.

In calling a traditional phone number such as landline and cell phones, you need to buy call-out credits for at least $10 to enjoy the low internet rates. Low rates starts for as low 1.9cents to all US calls and 2.0cents for Canada calls. For more rates to other countries, you check their phone rates page.

You can also receive calls using GizmoCall. Once you are logged in, other GizmoCall users can call you at your username. As long your GizmoCall is open on an active window or browser tab, even if it’s just in the background, you will be able to receive a call.

What GizmoCall doesn’t do is video calls. This feature is not yet available as of the moment and so is instant messaging. But even without these features, GizmoCall is still a convenient way to make phone calls.

Here’s something even better, since it runs online, you can embed it on your site or blog.
