Tickets for Singapore sold like Pancakes

The first out-of-the-country game of the KFC-Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup was held in Singapore at the newly refurbished Singapore Indoor Stadium between San Miguel Beer and Talk N Text.
Tickets have been sold out, with several overseas Filipino workers demanding for more. However, more tickets cannot be accommodated since the stadium only has a 10,700 seating capacity.
Two teams, Air21 and Purefoods, have played games in Singapore and were given warm reception on two separate occasions by the Filipinos stationed there. This time around, two Philippine teams are up against each other, and is expected to be a major event among the OFWs and other Filipinos in Singapore.
This only goes to show how passionate the Filipinos are about the game and their respective teams. Even when abroad, Filipinos cannot help but display their roots and love of the game which would seem strange to the locals there. The hooting, chatting, and shouting simply because one wants to shout is a norm during these occasions. It is an avenue where Filipinos can express their being Filipino without trampling on other races or appearing racist, especially in a multi-racial country like Singapore. This country treasures and cherishes its multi-racial community, but there are times that Filipinos needs to be around themselves, to be themselves and just be where everybody understands what one is. This is one of those occasions that is being presented to the OFWs in Singapore, and why tickets have sold like pancakes.
On a side note, another sold out event in Singapore is the comedy act of Vice Ganda and Anton Diva. Entertainers back home like comedians and singers who can be only be watched on TV are in high demand overseas in every major city where Filipinos are. As local Filipino TV stations are reaching more audience abroad, demand for live performances of those entertainers seen on TV continues to grow.
