Apple: I Don’t Want To Take Part In The Mac World Conference And Expo
Posted on March 12th, 2009
The rumors about Steve Jobs skipping the Mac World Conference and Expo seems to be true when Steve Dowling, an Apple spokesman, refuse in giving information about Steve Jobs declining health, since the guy have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
The rumor became a bit more truthful when Steve Jobs made Phil Schiller, the top marketing person of Apple, recite the keynote in the said event. According to Dowling, “Phil is giving the keynote because this is Apple’s last year in the show, and it doesn’t make sense for us to make a major investment in a trade show we will no longer be attending.â€
Because of the occurrence and adding insult to injury is the fact that Jobs became a bit aloof with the media, Apple’s stock is in continuous downgrading. NDP group made a report that showed how Apple’s store sales declined by 1 percent this November despite the increase of 2 percent in demand for Personal Computers. According to the report too, the decline in the sales of Apple’s product is caused by the global financial crisis that is happening now. People tend to protect themselves by buying less and purchasing less expensive commodities.
Despite of the decrease in the Apple’s sales, the Apple fans still purchase some Apple products, and the widely purchased is the Apple iphone. By next year, it is expected that tens of millions of people will purchase one, some analysts defined this in figure of about 45 million. One billion applications are also now available in the market that will definitely increase the revenues of Apple.
There is probably some reason why Apple decided to withdraw their support in the Macworld trade show. According to John Gruber, the person who runs the Apple blog, Daring Fireball, “ I think that the set-in-stone scheduling of Macworld Expo has always been a thorn in Apple’s side. “ He explained that the Apple have been trying to pull their relationships with IDG, the organization that runs the Macworld trade show.
