“Undo Send” new feature on Gmail

User of Gmail will be delighted of the new feature that has been made available in Gmail Labs, and that is the new “undo send†feature. There are few, if ever there are any, email users who hasn’t inadvertently pressed the “send†button and later realizing that they have wrong addressee on the “To†box.
The new feature which was developed by Google engineers allows Gmail users to avoid these errors. The new “undo send†option however needs to be turned-on, and by doing so it builds a five-second delay to the email sending process.
On the Gmail’s official blog, Michael Leggett explained that reasons that prompted the development of the new “undo send†feature: “Sometimes I regret sending a message the morning after. Other times I send a message and then immediately notice a mistake… I could undo just about other action in Gmail – why couldn’t I undo send?†Leggett is a Gmail User Experience Designer.
“My theory (which others shared) was that even just five seconds would be enough time to catch most of those regrettable emails,†Leggett wrote on the blog. “Turn on Undo Send in Gmail Labs under Settings, and you’ll see a new Undo link on every sent mail confirmation. Click Undo and we’ll grab the message before it’s sent take you right back to compose.â€
This is the second feature that Google added in their email service that intends to help users avoid sending emails that may cause them regret later. The first one was the “Mail Googles†which was launched in October 2008. This feature make users answer a number of math questions before their message were sent.
Previous developments include an updated version of Gmail which users can access even when they don’t have an internet connection. Another feature shows the location of the email senders automatically. An option which users can disable if they want to keep their locations private.
