Manila F.A.M.E. International exhibit 2009

On April 15 to 18, 2009, close to 300 world-class designers and manufacturers will present their eco-inspired creations made of Philippine indigenous, sustainable materials in an event spearheaded by Manila F.A.M.E. international.
Manila F.A.M.E. participants and exhibitors have pride themselves in being pioneers in using recyclables and eco-friendly materials such as scrap metals, wood shavings, egg shells and other indigenous materials readily available in the country. They have always come up with fresh and original designs in home pieces and fashion wearable.
This year, the event will take place at the SMX Convention Center, located at Seashell Drive, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City, Philippines. Those who are interested to get more information about the fair can visit the Manila F.A.M.E. website at www.manilafame.com.
The Manila F.A.M.E. International (which stands for Furnishing and Apparel Manufacturers Exchange), is a flagship project of the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), an agency of the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
They have been holding the even for 25 years now and has showcased the best of Philippine design and Filipino manufacturers which placed Philippine designs in the international spotlight over the years. The body is accredited by UFI, a Paris-based organization of leading trade show organizers and recognized by major international associations in the exhibitions industry.
Previous participants in the event have been recipients of international awards like Germany’s Red Dot Award, Japan Good Design Award, and Unesco-AHPADA Seal of Excellence for Handicraft products in Southeast Asia. Likewise, they have also been featured in the International Design Yearbook.
Every exhibit has seen close to 3,000 foreign buyers attending Manila F.A.M.E. including world-renowned brands like Armani Casa, Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma and Robinsons to cite a few.
“It was exciting to see recycling products using soda bottles and newspapers. The show has been using a lot of different products I have not seen elsewhere,†said Kim Chaumont, president of Selections by Chaumont in the United States.
