Independence Day jobs fair in Iloilo by DOLE6

This coming June 12, Independence Day, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 6, will be having a three-day mega job fair wherein there are close to 16,000 jobs are to be filled up. As of date, 15 government agencies and about 28 local companies and overseas recruitment agencies have already confirmed participation for the said event.
DOLE 6 Director Aida Estabillo said the job fair will endeavor to connect the displaced workers and unemployed to both local and foreign employment opportunities, as well vacancies in the government offices.
The first day of the job fair, June 12, will see applicants being matched with 15 government agencies which posted a total of 1,087 job vacancies, consisting of unfilled plantilla positions for short term emergency employment under the Comprehensive Livelihood and Emergency Employment program (CLEEP).
In her Executive Order (EO) No. 782, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo directed all government agencies to set aside 1.5 percent of their Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) budget to hire displaced workers or their dependents for emergency employment. They are however, still to be validated if they meet the qualifications for the said positions.
The second day of the job fair, June 13, according to Dir. Estabillo is set aside for matching of job vacancies posted by local companies, which as of date have reached 738 jobs. The number is expected to increase once the Iloilo Business Club have submitted to the DOLE the list of member companies which will participate.
June 14 will be the job matching for overseas employment, which have 14,000 available jobs posted by participating overseas recruitment agencies to date.
The government is also planning to set-up a one-stop-shop pre-employment services during the three-day affair to assist the jobseekers.
Government agencies who will participate in this are the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine Postal Corporation, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), National Statistics Office (NSO), Professional Regulations Commissions (PRC), Social Security System (SSS) and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
Jobseekers who will come to the event are advised to bring several copies of their detailed resume, certificate of employment, transcript of records and passport, if available.
