the truth is… GSIS have no money for all it’s member because it was used by some political agenda. They say that the software had a problem but the real story is that the machine and the software per se doesnt have an issue at all…

IBM DB2 is used by companies worldwide, maybe GSIS has no one to blame to that’s why they sue IBM since its name was all over the machines and the softwares.

I’ve worked in IT for more than 20 years. It is the prime responsibility of the CIO or the Technology chief of GSIS to ensure best practices are followed for disaster recovery, backup and archiving, database management to protect its investments. DB2 is used by thousands of big and global corporations with no similar issue. One of the issue here is ‘brain drain’ – companies in the Phils do not pay enough for IT so they are left with the mediocre or beginners.

it was not IBM’s computer used by GSIS giving them trouble but the software develop by IBM.

I read the article in the newspaper and I am doubtful if its the DB2 thats causing the problem at GSIS. There are 3 vendors involved here. I think the database design and implementation is the problem. DB2 has been proven to run with millions records.
