Here is a list of the 10 most creative people in the field of architecture. These architects have the most incomparable, unique, and influential works in the field of architecture.
Thom Mayne- Morphosis Architects
Through aggressive and hyper-angular buildings, Thom Mayne has made his name. But his designs are not limited only to those, in fact he has a sinuous design for the Phare Tower. This new work of his is set to have a groundbreaking by 2010 above the business district of Paris’ La Defense.
Zaha Hadid- Zaha Hadid Architects
Aside from designing hideous and expensive furniture, Hadid has been successful in bringing futuristic vision of architecture into reality. This can be seen in one of the business district in Cairo, one of his latest designs.
Jacques Herzog and Pierre De Mueron- Herzog & De Meuron
Surface decoration used to be a taboo. But, this is how the duo became popular, introducing surface decoration in the architectures of the modern days. They became internationally known through their “Bird’s Nest” Olympic Stadium. In Madrid, they have built the CaixaForum art center upon the walls of an old power station.
Norman Foster- Foster + Partners
Foster is always remembered for parlaying high-tech architecture into a design firm with multi-million projects, sometimes even billions, across the world. The firm has always been in technical innovations and a masterful stroke with building logic. Last year, they have completed Beijing International Airport Terminal 3. It is known to be the biggest and most advanced building in the world in terms of technology.
Will Alsop- ALSOP Architects
Will Aslop, a maximalist who is famous for his dedication to extraordinary artistic design. One of his strangest and most exciting buildings is the extension for the Ontario College of Art and Design one of his “chips†building which was inspired by filed French fries.
Shigeru Ban- Shigeru Ban Architects
Ban has made his name by building a house with a facade made of billowing curtain. He is a genius who uses unconventional materials in building his works. He has used paper in creating his architectures for many years. He got the inspiration from a Chinese farmer’s hat in designing the Centre Pompidou Metz.
Yansong Ma- MAD Architects
MAD is representing the advancement of Chinese talent from a new generation of homegrown talent. Erdo’s Museum though still undergoing its completion, is a proof that the Chinese are trying to get away from living in the shadow of the west architecture, copying their ideas and importing their talents. Erdo’s design is their way of showing their own talent and idea in modern architecture.
Minsuk Cho and Kisu Park- MASS Studies
By working from different levels from plans of the city to boutiques and galleries, MASS Studies was able to establish themselves with modification to the traditional Asian architecture. MASS Studies is produced locally from South Korea and is internationally recognized. They integrated the Korean alphabet to their design of the Korean Pavilion of the Shanghai Expo in 2010.
Rem Koolhaas- OMA
When it comes to ultramodern architecture, the name of Koolhaas and his Office for Metropolitan Architecture is always included. His worked and his firm has introduced a thoroughness and strangeness to design and has always been one of the leaders in thinking of designs that will fit the modern society. Right now, CCTV tower in Beijing which is still under construction is the crowning glory of the firm.
Winy Maas, Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Vries- MVRDV
MVRDV is the acronym from the names of its founders. Though they have made their name from wacky idea, the firm has grown into an astoundingly graceful style. The building has turned the books into symbolic element of structures.
