Convergys opens new facility in Glorietta, Makati

In spite of the still ongoing global recession, the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry continues to be resilient as more call centers are being opened in the Philippines.
Convergys Corporation, a global leader in relationship management, just opened a new facility in Glorietta 5 in Makati, one of the largest shopping district in the country and located in the midst of the premier business district of Makati City.
This brings to four the company facilities that have been opened throughout the country since it announced its major expansion plan in May of 2008. The new state-of-the-art facility covers an area of 17,000 square meters and can house approximately 2,700 employees.
Marife Zamora, Convergys Vice President and Country Manager said, “We are growing exponentially. So far this year, Convergys has opened four new facilities and added over 3,000 jobs to the BPO industry and the Philippine economy. We are well on our way to closing the year with 20,000 employees as announced at our dedication last year. the Philippines continues to be the geography that our clients continue to request and with the opening of this new facility, we will continue to meet the needs of our existing and future clients around the globe.â€
Other new sites that have been opened by the company so far are: Convergys’ Cebu Asiatown i3, UP TechnoHub, and Nuvali Evozone, which were all dedicated in April 2009 by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
The Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) is still very much optimistic and predicts a steady growth of the BPO industry until 2010.
Convergys, incidentally, won the Outstanding Exporter and Outstanding Employer awards in the Large Enterprise Category, as well as the “BPO Employer of the Year†at the 2009 International ICT awards. This was during the 2009 Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Investors’ Appreciation Day.
