Another proof that the business process outsourcing sector is an industry that continues to enjoy growth in the Philippines in spite of the global recession that hits many countries worldwide. Another BPO company which is based in Europe will be opening a facility in Bacolod City.

The Transcom Bacolod will be starting its operations on August 1. Initially, it will provide jobs to 800 Filipinos, but the company plans to increase its work force to 2,000 by end of the year.

Duncan Cowi, Transcom North America and Asia regional and general manager, said Bacolod City is a growth center and that it felt like home because of the people and the available facilities such as power and telecommunication. Cowi said that with their talent and capability, it’s the people which make the city the “most business-friendly city.”

He said Transcom company was built with two fundamental principles – achieving number one status in quality and employee satisfaction. He added that Transcom enjoyed growth in the Philippines since they believed that the market for the BPO industry was big enough for Bacolod.

Siva Subramaniam, Transcom Asia country manager, said that their company committed to partner with the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation for information and Communication Technology and the city’s education institutions to ensure quality standards of the labor pool in the province through scholarships and various training programs.

Meanwhile for its part, Mayor Evelio Leonardia of Bacolod City assured Transcom that the city will fully support the company in providing quality manpower and security
