8th Coco Festival at the Mega Trade Hall

August is the month where Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) will celebrate its 23rd National Coconut Week. Oscar G. Garin, PCA Administrator said that the coconut week will be highlighted by the 8th Coco Festival.

The 8th Coco Festival is a trade and exhibit which will showcase the various products and by-products derived from the different parts of the coconut. The exhibit will be held on August 13 to 16 at the Mega Trade Hall 3, Megamall, Mandaluyong City.

With the theme for this year “Niyog – Natatangi ito yaman Oil na Ginto pa!” the PCA central office and its 14 regions and 68 provincial offices will spearhead the celebrations which will serve as a thanksgiving for the blessings and benefits from the coconut, which is called the “Tree of Life” as mandated by the Presidential Proclamation 142 series of 1987.



The event will provide a venue for information-sharing and sharing activities, said Garin. It will also feature the business opportunities from the coconut. There will be farmers training in the regions while free lectures on the latest technologies on coconut, and coconut crafts, will be held at the Mega Mall.

The 23rd National Coconut Week is co-organized by the PCA-Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative Inc. (PCA-EMPCI).

Covercrops International, Nutiva-Delicious Hemp & Coconut Superfoods, Tropicana Food Products, Inc. / Atson Coco Inc., D. A. Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service (D. A. AMAS), GMA High Value Commercial Crops Program, Phil Agriculture and Fisheries Bio-technology Program, Philippine Agricultural Development & Commercial Corp. (PADCC) among others.
