Google’s new search options

Posted on October 3rd, 2009

The internet giant Google launched a Search Options last May, which allows user to filter and refine the search results from Google searches. Recently, the company added more options as they received more favorable feedbacks from the search options everyday.

The new search options allow for more specific refinement and filtering of search results. These are the: past hour, specific date range, more shopping sites, fewer shopping sites, visited pages, not yet visited, books, blogs and news.

To try the new search options, do any search on Google and click on the “Show options” button at the top of the search results page.

Let’s see what are these new search options added

If you want to get the latest updates, you can click on the ‘Past hour ‘option you will receive links to the posts regarding the topic you’re searching within the last hour. If you know the specific time and date of what you’re searching for, instead of going through the Next page to find it, use the ‘Specific date range’ so you can narrow down your choices.

The ‘More shopping sites’ and ‘Fewer shopping sites’ options are obviously just what they are as stated. If you want to see more shopping sites on your search results, you can use the ‘More shopping sites’ option. And if you want less shopping, use the ‘Fewer shopping sites’ option.

You can also choose between ‘Books,’ ‘Blogs’ and ‘News’ as the source of your searches. These can be used with other options such as the videos, forums and reviews.

If you want to see results from the sites you have been before, choose the ‘Visited pages’ options. Or if previous results were wrong, you can otherwise choose the ‘Not yet visited’ and the sites you have already been to will be filtered from the result, giving a list of fresh new sites.

So check on these new options and find things faster on the net with Google’s new search options.
