IFC offers special financing program for renewable energy projects

To encourage more investments in renewable energy projects in the Philippines, the International Finance Corp. (IFC) launched a program that would assist banks in moving loan financing away from the high energy consuming projects toward those favoring energy efficiency and emission reduction. IFC is the World Bank’s private sector lending arm.

Smart, BPI teamed up to offer mobile banking service

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has teamed with the stiffest competitor of its affiliate mobile company Globe Telecoms. BPI and Smart Communications has entered into a partnership that would provide a new mobile banking platform that will offer a full range of services to the two companies’ common clients.
