Toshiba to provide employment to thousands of Filipinos in its factory

More new employment opportunities are coming up in the Philippines as Toshiba announced that it will be hiring “several thousand” new employees early next year. The new employees are for their two factories in Laguna.
This was announced by company chief representative for Asia Pacific Hiroyuki Ishida during the Toshiba’s product launch at the Peninsula Manila.
He said that while there was a slowdown in global consumer demand, the company did not suffer decrease in their sales. Ishida said they currently have 13,000 employees producing hard disk drives.
At the product launch, Ishida said that their two new personal computers are expected to increase their sales by 30 percent to 40 percent. The company currently has seven percent to eight percent of the market. According to Ishida, they are number five but they aim to move up to the number three spot next year.
The company also plans to increase their sales in television. It currently has two percent to three percent of the market share in TV. The country (Philippines) has been identified by Toshiba Singapore as one of the key countries for LCD business expansions in Asia. To strengthen their line, Toshiba has added two new LCCD series.
Toshiba’s Computer System Division, likewise launched its new Protégé slim series. With these series, it aims to meet the demand of everyday mobility. The computer has up to 11 hours battery life on a single charge. The unit measures less than an inch at the slimmest point and weighs just 1.58 kg. It also has hard drive protection with 3D motor sensors, a built in webcam with smartface technology.
The company also announced its partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA) to ring NBA excitement to Filipino’s. It will use the NBA’s comprehensive marketing assets, media and on ground initiatives to showcase its products.
