Posted on December 14th, 2009
The Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) is being pushed to get the accreditation of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO-9001-2008). DMIA’s operating arm, the Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) has started the said campaign to keep in tune with the worldwide industrial and commercial standards.
Getting the certification for ISO-9001-2008 will pave the way for meeting the worldwide industrial and commercial standards as well as upgrade services to international travelers and passengers using the DMIA as the Premier Gateway in the country, said CIAC Vice-President for Operations and Business Development and concurrent ISO General Manager Romeo N. Dycoco Jr.
CIAC started the ISO program for DMIA last January and it involved the support of different government agencies such as the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), the Philippines Tourism Authority (PTA), the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Customs (BoC), the Bureau of Immigration (BI), the Bureau of Quarantine, the Department of Health (DoH), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), the Bureau of Plants and Animal Industry, Asiana Airline, Air Asia Berhad, Tiger Airways, Cebu Pacific Air, Miascor Gate Gourmet and the Clark Airport Support Services. CIAC had signed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with all the service providers.
The scope of its ISO certification program, according to Dycoco, involves Passenger Facilitation where CIAC aims to deliver better quality service to international travelers and passengers at the DMIA which is now bustling with international and domestic flights provided by international and local air carriers.
CIAC will proceed for the ISO internal support services process for the next program. The target date for the ISO Certification of DMIA is on December 29, 2009. TUV Rheinlad is the certifying body for the ISO Certification.
