Most employees who rely on their twice a month salary often find it hard to make both ends meet. More often than not, they avail of payday advance from their company, if such privilege is available to them. Which is better, because most companies do not charge interest on those advances and the employee does not incur additional expenses in the form of finance charges.

Unfortunately, not all companies provide that benefit to their employees that is why workers rely on outside lenders which charges interest on money loaned. It is inevitable, unfortunately, that the regular wage earner would go to money lender sometimes.

Some finance companies have websites that allows processing of loans online and the proceeds would either be credited to the employee’s bank account or picked up at their office, saving the borrower time going to and from, just following up.

Other lenders take a couple of days to process the loan while some provide same day loans processing and releases. This is especially true if the borrower already has a record with them.

But while money lenders, finance companies, and the like, are always there to help in your times of needs, always remember that these have costs. They carry interests, finance charges and other processing costs. The key is to be prudent, as much as possible, to avoid resorting to them. And if it cannot be avoided, make sure that the money borrowed will go to their intended use.

Paypal is one of the most common and widely online payment payment system. Entrepreneurs, more often than not, apply for Merchant Accounts to get the added features not available to personal accounts, and both buyers and suppliers somehow trust those with merchant accounts better than those with personal accounts. A merchant account would get more transactions easier, as long as the entrepreneur is professional in his dealings with his buyers and suppliers.

However, in spite of the popularity of Paypal, there are some who are still looking for PayPal Alternative because either they can’t get approved, they do not have credit cards, or their country is not included in the Paypal’s list.

And there are a lot of them, actually. If someone is looking for other online payment portals aside from Paypal, a simple search through Google or Yahoo could give them a long list of the different online payment sites.

There are some Credit Card Processing Companies who might even recommend you online payment portals where you can a merchant account. Or you may also check the website Free Merchant Account Advisor because they reviewed different payments sites. That way you can choose the best alternative for Paypal that fits your requirement.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has recently beefed up its Visita Iglesia Online website to accommodate more visitors and to prevent what happened last year when the site crashed because it received more than 43,000 online visitors. This year, the CBCP said they expected the number of visitors to double.

Unfortunately, in spite of the upgrading done on the website, the Visita Iglesia Online site was reported to have crashed again after reaching more than 58,000 hits. As of 7:00 a.m. on Holy Thursday, the site had already at least 58,337 visitors.

As of Holy Monday, the site had only around 21,000 visitors. The number of visits appeared to peak late on Holy Wednesday when the figure jumped from 40,187 as of 6:35 a.m. to more than 50,000 as 10:000 p.m. on the same day.

It is even expected that the website traffic would even climb further during the so-called “Easter Triduum” or Paschal Triduum. The Easter Triduum begins with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday and ends on Easter Sunday. It celebrates the passion and death of Jesus Christ on Good Friday and His resurrection on Easter Sunday.

The Visita Iglesia Online site which was started last year by CBCP as an experiment was created for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and other Filipinos who are not capable of going out of their homes to physically the churches for the traditional Visita Iglesia during Holy Thursday.

This year, it was launched by CBCP on April 1 and features many improvements – additional churches, a YouTube introduction, catecheses on Lent, the Holy Week and Easter, and features like the Pasyon, Seven Last Words and homilies of different priests.

Last year the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) launched the Visita Iglesia Online to offer a virtual Holy Week experience, particularly to Filipinos overseas and devout Catholics who are physically incapable of leaving their homes. It was merely an experiment and not as a serious endeavor as it only featured seven churches.

This year, CBCP media director Msgr. Pedro Quitorio said they have beefed up the capacity of the website in anticipation of a large number of online visitors this Holy Week. Msgr. Quitorio affirmed that the Church hierarchy’s official news service had augmented the website to prevent it from crashing like what happened last year. An unexpected 43,000 visitors logged on to the website. This year, they are expecting the number of online visitors to double.

“It just shows that Filipinos, no matter where they go, will always be religious and the desire to celebrate the Holy Week is always there, too,” the monsignor told reporters.

Yesterday, Palm Sunday marked the start of the Holy Week. Devout Catholics went to their parish churches carrying palm leaves to commemorate the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.

Last year, Msgr. Quitorio recalled that the website suddenly crashed. Checking what went wrong, they discovered that the website had already reached 43,000 hits. “So I thought, ‘This is serious and we cannot just ignore the 43,000 visitors just like that,’ so this year, we prepared for it. We expanded our servers that even if the figures doubled, it would not crash,” he added.

This year, the CBCP News added new features to the website as well. It now shows 14 historical shrines and pilgrimage churches in Metro Manila and nearby provinces to correspond with the 14 Stations of the Cross with reflections given by priests.

The Visita Iglesia Online included in its multimedia presentation the Manila Cathedral and San Agustin Church in Intramuros, Manila; Quiapo Church or the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene; Our Lady of Manaoag Church in Pangasinan; and the Agoo Church in La Union.

The website also has homilies delivered by some priests during the entire Lenten season this year and catechesis on Lent, Holy Thursday, Palm Sunday and the Kissing of the Cross, among other liturgical practices observed during the Holy Week.

And for Filipinos overseas who miss the “Pabasa,” Visita Iglesia Online has an audio recording of the 21 chapters of the “Pasyon,” the poetical narration of the life and sufferings of Christ.

The Premier Entertainment Philippines Inc. (PEP) just got the nod of its shareholders to diversify from its main business of online gaming and into the mining, real estate and information technology. However, the company said it remains in search of its next venture as it assesses “feelers” from potential partners in its new businesses.

Anastacio P. Diaz of PEP said they want to move into a new venture that is not as tightly regulated as gaming business, which is overseen by the state-help Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. He stressed that whatever business they will go into, with any possible business partner, should have “synergy with company’s intentions.”

He said the search for a new business remains in the scouting stage. The final decision may be reached in 18 months.

PEP operates seven online casinos in Metro Manila that provide much of its cash. Each online casino carries an average of 50 terminals, said Diaz. PEP operates the online casino through its unit Digiwave Solutions Inc.

The gaming company hopes to improve its returns from its business. As of its last financial report, it stood at P47.7 million, which should have been P318,000 higher than the previous year’s had it not been for the recognition of a one-time gain from the sale of software by PEP in 2009 that dwarfed its 2010 revenues and more than covered all its cost for that year.

The company remains in the red. As of September, it financial report showed a nine-month loss of P41.25 million compared with an income of P7.65 million in the previous year. For the quarter, PEP’s loss of P6.67 million was lower than the P15.25 million loss in the previous year.

Diaz said they expect a 10 percent growth in revenue in its existing seven sites, even as the company intends to further increase the presence of online casinos. They are eyeing expansion in Manila, Quezon City, Las Piñas and Bulacan province, among others.

“We are able to dramatically reduce our operating expenses, and our e-games have been upgraded. We have a better management group. So we expect revenues to rise and operating expenses to drop,” said Diaz.

Because they remained unclaimed after the one-year claiming period, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has forfeited a total of P605,273,958.20 prizes from all online lotto games in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao draws. These forfeited prizes, according to the PCSO, were mostly minor prizes of the EZ 2, the 3-digit game, 4-digit game, 6-digit game, 6/42, the Mega Lotto, the 6/42 and 6/49 Super Lotto, and the short-lived Power Lotto game.

PCSO publicity and advertising manager Manny Garcia said the unclaimed prizes, representing about 55 percent of the total sales of the online lotto games, will be reverted back to the charity fund of the agency. “Unclaimed prizes revert and form part of the charity fund after one year,” he said, adding that the forfeited prizes would be a big help to pursue the PCSO’s vision and mission.

Garcia said, “Our mission is be a model government agency in carrying out its responsibility to provide medical and health services to the disadvantaged sectors of society through a professional workforce with integrity, competence, a deep sense of accountability and transparency in all its official transactions.” He said the PCSO is also extending financial assistance and contributions to certain national programs created by various legislative enactments.

The charity fund where the unclaimed prizes are placed, according to him, is a trust and liability account, created solely to finance and support the health programs, medical assistance and services and/or charities of national characters. Garcia also added that disbursements from this charity fund, regardless of the amount involved, do not only require the authorization of the PCSO Board of Directors but also the approval of the Office of the President.

Quezon City council formalizes online business registry with a city ordinance last week. The ordinance also allows the public to research valuable business information in the city. Both domestic and international traders would benefit from it because they can identify their prospective markets in Quezon City with just a click on their mouse.

Aside from that, Quezon City fourth district councilor Edcel “Grex” Lagman, Jr. said that the system would also allow for verifying the legitimacy of a business firms, as well as getting tips and pointers about starting a particular business in the locality. He said the project will use information and communications technology in imparting knowledge to international traders regarding the local business climate.

The online business data registry portal aims to make the Quezon City government the most business-friendly local government unit (LGU) in the country. It also protects both business sector and the consumers as it allows access information that would verify if a particular business entity is duly registered with the city’s Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO).

Lagman, who is also the chairman of the city council’s committee on education and science and technology, said the portal will also make it easy for the Quezon City government to monitor and update business registration. He added that the P25 million of the annual collection from business operators in Quezon City since 2002, which currently is being held in trust, will be used to develop the software and hardware to run the online business data registry portal, which is a joint endeavor of the Quezon City government through its BPLO and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce.

There is nothing more frustrating for an entrepreneur, whether seasoned, aspiring or a star-up, than when an opportunity drops on his lap and he has no excess cash to invest. Especially when it is a low-risk and high return investment opportunity. It would have been nice to that excess cash when such opportunity come, otherwise, the entrepreneur could just avail of Online Loans to get the additional investing money that he needs. It is not such a bad decision actually, especially if the returns on the planned investment is higher than the cost of the money borrowed. Or if the cost of the money is actually higher, and yet the benefits could be reaped in the long run, it is still a good investment decision.

For employees who wants to escape the rat race and become entrepreneurs, one of the most common source of capital is getting Personal Loan, either from their company or outside lending companies who accommodate employees looking for additional with minimal or no securities required other than a certificate of employment.

Another source of extra cash, and perhaps most common, are Credit Cards as most employees and entrepreneurs have one. Credit card companies made it easier for anyone who have regular income to acquire one these days. Whatever your choice is, just be sure that the investment, and its long term benefits, exceeds the cost of money borrowed.

Christmas and New Year has just passed and like most people, nothing brings out the spender and the generosity in you like the Christmas. And when the smoke settled down, you find yourself short in cash and an instant cash advance immediately entered your mind as one of the options to help you make it through the next payday.

So you seek out where to find sources of instant cash, lending companies who are willing to lend with least requirement and fast processing time. You both looked for offline and online cash advance sources. You tried to find as many as you can, so you can compare which one has the lowest interest and the most affordable terms. You do not want to get tied up with loan for a long time. You are looking for emergency cash.

That is the right idea. If you did find an instant cash advances company who is willing to accommodate you on such a short notice, remember for what purpose you are getting it — just to tidy up, until you finally recovered from too much holiday spendings. So manage you finances well. Money borrowed has costs, if not handled well, you might yourself in deeper trouble than before. Next time, be wise in your spending.

With online social network getting more popular these days, leading mobile communication giant Smart Communications offered a new product that will allow prepaid subscribers to update their social network accounts like Friendster, Twitter and Facebook, in its new all-in-one load bundle.

The new service from, which is called Smart Buddy’s AllTxt Combo Plus, is a perfect bundle for people who loves to update and stay connected with their friends and relatives through these popular online network community, can do so for only as low as P25 per day, including the calling and sending of SMS and MMS.

Danilo Mojica, Smart wireless consumer division head, has this to say, “Mobile subscribers these days no longer just call or text to keep in touch with their friends and family or to share news – they also update their status, write on ‘walls’ and ‘tweet’ too. Most would wish that they could do this on-the-go, on their cellphone, just like texting without having to get on the Internet. Ideally, it could also work on any phone, even the older handsets, and that it wouldn’t cost too much on top of the staple call and text package. The Smart Buddy AllTxt Combo Plus makes all this possible.”

He added that the addition of ‘e-Txts’ or the service that allows subscribers to send updates to social networks via SMS, to the traditional call and text ‘bucket’ services “is a first of its kind in the world and creates for Smart the opportunity to make our subscribers’ Smart Buddy SIMs more relevant to them by offering more connectivity options.”

The new AllTxt Combo Plus gives their prepaid subscribers a cost-effective method of updating their social network accounts since it does not require connecting to the Internet, and it even works even on older, 2G handsets. It comes in six variants, each one tailored to a specific budget and a preferred social network.

The IP E-Game Ventures, Inc., the online gaming unit of listed information technology firm IPVG Corp., is getting ready to go public after fulfilling the requirement of the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) to be listed by way of introduction last February of this year.

In its disclosure to PSE, the firm said, “In preparation for the mandated initial public offering of IP E-Game Ventures, Inc. through PSE, the company’s board had resolved to amend Article Seven of the Amended Articles of Incorporation, increasing the company’s authorized capital stock to up to 350 million shares from 100 million.”

“The board has authorized company president Jaime Enrique Y. Gonzales to negotiate with and engage the services of a financial advisor and/or underwriter to assist the corporation in its initial public offering (IPO).” However, the company did not provide other details, but last February, it said it would go public during the second half of the year.

IP E-Game Ventures got listed in the local stock exchange last February by way of introduction. This allows trading of stocks using the PSE’s facilities without raising money from the sale of new shares. However, it also required that the firm must be widely held and should conduct an IPO within 12 months. IP E-Game Ventures listed 33,545,554 common shares.

As of Friday’s trading, shares of IP E-Games closed at P40.50 apiece, down from P44.00 on last Thursday’s closing.

The company plans to strengthen its “massive multi-player online game” business, but said it will focus on “casual internet games.” In the early part of the year, the company said it has a total of 11 million subscribers, of which 3.5 million are active players or those who play the games two to three times a month.

So you finally decided to get your own website for your business so you can reach more potential customers. How then do you let web surfers and online shoppers that your site and up and they should check it out. There are lots of ways really, like joining online forums, and getting link referral from companies like Link Proz, who can spread the news of your website’s existence for you.

Online companies like LinkProz can help you get noticed on the wide, wide world of the Internet. They can get you potential clients and not just mere curious web surfers by getting the specific details of your business and sending them to your specific target market.

You could liken to advertising, only you are talking to but one company and they will be the one who will be going out and seeking for visitors for your online shop. Yes, it could be another expense on your part. But treat it as an investment, one investment that can get you more returns that distributing flyers and inserts to your local magazines.

But short on a budget, like I said, you can try promoting your site on online business forums and social media, like multiply, facebook, and the likes. It could be tedious though, but it could still get you results.

One way to expand your market reach at the cheapest cost possible is by getting your business online. Yes, you can reach more potential clients through the Internet, for that you need a reliable website hosting company to be sure that you can accommodate all visits and not fall flat on your face by getting error messages when your company website becomes popular.

If you can a web hosting company that can provide you a website builder software, so much the better. That way, you will not be having a hard time building your website especially if you are not really a techie person and do not know much about HTML and all those stuffs.

But just in case you do not have the software you needed to build your website, be sure that you hire an expert to design your website for you. Yes, it could mean an additional expense, but it is really worth the investment. A good website design can make or break your online business.

For one, you need to make your website user-friendly and interactive. Your visitors must know how to reach, make buying online easier just they see something that interests, and must have many options on how to pay their purchases, like Paypal, credit cards, debit from their bank accounts, etc. You are lucky if you know how to do this all by yourself.

Try to find out if your web host also has a blog web hosting services because it could be an additional marketing tool if your business has a blog where you can promote new products, sales and promotions, and the like. Search engines seems to be more blog-friendly, that is why it is a good idea to have a company blog, it can your company more popular on the web.

The bottom line is, have a website, get online. It is what most entrepreneurs are doing right now.

Many businesses today are realizing the importance of having a website for greater exposure of their company, products, and services. That is why many entrepreneurs, big or small, are making sure that they have online exposure. But before you keep that site up and running, be sure to get a professional to make your web design for you. Because the design of your virtual office could make or break your attempt in maximizing the power of the Internet.

By getting a professional to do your web page design, it is already one step towards your success in the virtual commerce. But do not just get a web designer, you should WORK with your web page designer. While he may be an expert in his craft, you are still the master of your enterprise and you know the company’s strong points, best products, and your advantage over your competitors.

For example, he may suggest to make a flash website design for your page, you can suggest which products, services, or informational should be highlighted by the design. It will be good if your web designer has background in marketing, he can be of great help as he would suggest how to best present you enterprise.

You may also try searching the Internet for the best web design and study how they present their company. If you can find one in the same industry or product and service category that you have, it will be better. Try to see their strong points, find out the weak points. Think like a customer and see what it is you are looking for, but is not the website.

Then, you can use the information when you discuss the project with your website designer. Try not to copy the good points, but improve on then, make your site interactive. Give some reason for prospective customers to stay, explore, come back, and buy.

An additional $9 will be imposed on non-immigrant visa application fees by the United States Embassy starting on June 4. The US Embassy cited the “increasing cost of providing highest-quality service” as the cause for the said increase.

This means visa application fees starting next month would be $140, from a previous $130, for tourist and business visas (B1 and B2 categories), seafarer and crew (C1 and D), student (F), and exchange visitor. Fees for work visas (categories H, L, O, P, Q, and R) would be $150.

The trader or investor visas (E) would be $390. For spouse, fiancé, and fiancée (K), it would be $350. for other non-immigrant categories, the fee would be $140. the machine-readable visa (MRV) fees of the US would increase worldwide, and not just in the Philippines.

Visa applicants who were able to get an appointment dates before June 4 would still pay the current rate of $131, while those with scheduled appointments on June 4 and the succeeding dates must pay the new rates.

“The Embassy requests that visa applicants who have already paid the MRV fee of $131 for an appointment scheduled after June 4 pay for the difference in fees at the same bank branch where they made the initial $131 payment,” the Embassy said. “You will need to present both blue MRV fee receipts when you arrive at the Embassy… You will not be allowed to enter the Embassy for your interview unless the full MRV fee has been paid,” it added.

The embassy also advised that that conversion of visa applications to online form has nothing to do with the worldwide increase in visa application fees. Applicants for US non-immigration visas started applying online since last May 24, as part of the embassy’s thrust to promote green technologies.
